Samsung Introduces Voice of Your Generation Podcasts

high-quality learning opportunities

Milan, 24 January (Adnkronos) - "The Voice of Your Generation," a podcast in three episodes (exclusively available on Spotify starting today), was conceived, written, and created by 12 young people from across the globe. It is an unfiltered account of authentic stories and experiences of GenZ for GenZ, between uncertainties, fears, and small and great joys, to give voice to the needs of a generation, be the spokesperson for positive messages, and support their peers in difficulty. We are currently living in a period of history that is marked by profound uncertainty, which is having a detrimental effect on everyone's psycho-physical health, but especially that of the younger generations.

The proportion of adolescents who report being dissatisfied and finding themselves in a state of poor psychological well-being has doubled, from 3 points 2 percent in 2019 to 6 points 2 percent in 2021, as highlighted by Istat in the "Equitable and Sustainable Well-Being" report. The pandemic, according to the report "Post Pandemic Generation: Needs and Expectations of Young Italians in the Post Covid" Period" produced by Censis, has altered the vision of the future of. Only 22% of people are optimistic and think things will get better in the future.

Uncertainty (49%) and anxiety (30%) are the most common feelings among young people in Italy when they are contemplating the future. Around 100,000 young people in Italy have made the decision to isolate themselves from social life for extended periods of time, locking themselves in their rooms without having any kind of direct contact with the outside world, sometimes not even with their parents, according to the national hikikomori association of Italy.

Samsung wanted to play its part in assisting Generation Z in having a voice in this situation of growing apathy among teenagers. The Voice of Your Generation is a project that is actually wholly aligned with Samsung's corporate social responsibility mission, "Together for tomorrow! Enabling people.".

"With 'The Voice of Your Generation,' we aimed to accompany generation Z on a path of development that included training, education, but most importantly, listening to others and themselves. They now have the chance to express themselves differently thanks to the invention of podcasts because they can do so using just their voice and without the filters that are increasingly present online.

By paying attention to our 12 voices, we hope that young people from generation Z will feel less alone, but we also hope that parents, educators, and anyone else concerned about the future of our society will learn to listen and observe the beauty of this generation, which does not deserve labels, said Anastasia Buda, corporate citizenship internal communication manager of Samsung Electronics Italia. "Samsung has been working with the younger generations for a long time, and we help them reach their full potential by providing them with training and specialized technologies.

According to Buda, every one of Samsung's educational initiatives is created to support inclusive, high-quality learning opportunities so that everyone can become responsible digital citizens and forerunners of constructive social change. The story told in the podcast takes place on a bus, possibly during a school trip at the end of the year.

The decision was not made at random: the majority of Italian children have never gone on a field trip with their class because of the pandemic and virus containment measures. This is where the conflict starts, a genuine and natural conversation about three topics that are important to Generation Z: passions, insecurity and the fear of judgment, and relationships with others.

Giulia Stabile, a dancer and talent from the twentieth edition of Amici, was a special travel companion. Through dance, Giulia was able to fully express herself and share her story. "I feel incredibly fortunate to have collaborated on this project with the guys.

The dancer Giulia Stabile said, "I tried to make sure they understood how important it is to always be yourself, reflect on your thoughts and emotions, and tell yourself for who you are. Sometimes you just need to find the right way and tool to do it.". For me, it was the dance, while for them, it was the voice.

Looking inward and paying attention to oneself is how art is created. The 12 protagonists attended a training session led by their mentor Samsung, along with Loretta Redaelli, a psychosocial analyst and counselor who specializes in psychopedagogical dynamics, and Matteo Di Palma, a conductor, podcaster, and radio communication teacher, before beginning the actual recording.

The selected young people underwent a cycle of theoretical and practical lessons that taught them how to write and produce podcast content. The cycle also included coaching activities that included reflection and discussion times about issues pertaining to the dynamics of the adolescent world. Not only, though.

The guys also wrote and recorded two songs that became the podcast's soundtrack during the development phase of the show, including Un mare di noi and Shadows, thanks to the enthusiasm and artistic ability of the working group.

It is an unfiltered account of authentic stories and experiences of GenZ for GenZ, between uncertainties, fears, and small and great joys, to give voice to the needs of a generation, be the spokesperson for positive messages, and support their peers in difficulty.
