Rimini Embrace Delite Handball Again With The Italian Cup Finals

declares gianni cenzi

The men's and women's Italian Cup finals will be held in Rimini from February 2–5, 2023, and will feature the best of Italian handball. The men's and women's Italian handball Cup Finals, which will be held simultaneously and in one location at the RDS Stadium in Rimini for the third consecutive year, have everything set up.

Eight men's and eight women's teams from the top handball championship, who were selected based on their rankings at the end of the first round, will play each other in thrilling knockout matches starting on Thursday, February 2, and continuing through Sunday, February 5 of the same month in an effort to win the prestigious trophy, the first of 2023. The quarterfinal matches will take place on Thursday and Friday, the semifinals on Saturday, and the two Finals on Sunday. We will travel at a very rapid pace, playing four games per day.

Thousands of people, including athletes, insiders, and enthusiasts, are expected to be moved by an event this year, and there are high expectations both inside and outside the movement. Rimini is in upheaval as well, which encourages the return of elite handball.

"The great Italian handball embraces the city of Rimini once more with pleasure and satisfaction," declares Gianni Cenzi, vice president of Figh. "This is a city that has brought prestige to our sport and where the groundwork is being laid for a long-awaited restart. The Italian Cup Finals in the Federation's proposed format are a remarkable platform for handball promotion, and the decision to highlight the city of Rimini and the RDS Stadium—a decision that was made in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Region and its president Bonaccini—goes exactly in the desired direction.

We have four days of intense feelings in store for us, along with a performance and an adrenaline rush that we know the city of Rimini and all fans who watch the Finals show will enjoy. The decision to select Rimini continues the path taken jointly by the Region and the Figh: a partnership agreement that will see the Italian Cup Finals take place in Emilia-Romagna for the third consecutive year.

The organization will be maintained by Rimini for the two-year period 23/24 after Salsomaggiore handed the reins over to it. This year's Italian Cup Finals being held in Rimini is an important confirmation that Emilia-Romagna is still the region to host the event.

Handball is widely popular and practiced in our Region, from the elementary school level to the professional level, notes Giammaria Manghi, head of the political secretariat of the presidency of the Emilia Romagna Region. It is no accident that we are content to host events of particular importance and visibility as part of a Sport Valley identity that uses the sporting dimension also for the promotion of the territory. Herein lies the justification for a multi-year agreement between the Emilia-Romagna Region and Figh, a collaboration that represents a significant and qualified contribution to a regional calendar of major sporting events that, even at the beginning of 2023, is rich and high-profile.

In light of this, we are looking forward to the Finals 8, which will undoubtedly be a time for excitement, great entertainment, and a lovely showcase for the city of Rimini and the entire Riviera. "Rimini and handball have a rich and significant history together, and I think that having the chance to host the Final8 for 2023 and 2024 with the best formations on the national stage can help rekindle the passion for this sport," says Moreno Maresi, the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Rimini.

In order to strengthen Rimini's position as one of Italy's sports hubs, the city is getting ready to host the first of a long list of prestigious events, both indoors and outdoors, that will go hand in hand with us in the upcoming months. We do this by offering a well-established network of services, as well as the knowledge and propensity for hospitality of this land. The quarterfinals will take place over the days of February 2 and 3, with each day featuring four races and the first catwalk reserved for the top two teams in the regular season standings.

The semi-finals will take place on Saturday, and the championship game will be held in the morning of February 5th. The two Finals, which are scheduled for Sunday, February 5, will also be broadcast on SKY Sport (11.30 for the women's final and 1.30 for the men's), which is renewing its focus on the best Italian handball as it has done for the past two years without a break. All the matches will be broadcast on Eleven Sport with very high quality standards of footage and commentary.

The men's Final8 schedule is as follows: Thursday, February 2, QUARTER-FINALS, 16:00; Friday, February 3, QUARTER FINALS, 16:00; Saturday, February 4, SEMI-FINALS, 18:00; Sunday, February 5, FINAL DAY, 13:30; and Final 1st and 2nd place. The women's Final8 schedule is as follows: Thursday, February 2, QUARTER-FINALS, 16:00; Friday, February 3, QUARTER FIN.

"Rimini and handball have a rich and significant history together, and I think that having the chance to host the Final8 for 2023 and 2024 with the best formations on the national stage can help rekindle the passion for this sport," says Moreno Maresi, the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Rimini.
