Fise Presents The 2023 Events Priority To Olympic Qualification

Italian athletes are competing in important international competitions in order to qualify for the Olympics in eventing and show jumping. Following a 2022 to remember, the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation is prepared for the start of a sporting season in which Italy will continue to be the dominant force.

"The final year in which athletes can still qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics in equestrian sports is 2023. The real goal is to qualify in the show jumping discipline, which has been absent since Athens 2004. Show jumping is the crown jewel of our sport.

"As a Federation, we have established the technical cadres across all disciplines, and the objective for 2023 is undoubtedly to achieve Olympic qualification," added Francesco Girardi, the Fise's Sporting Director, who was appearing for the first time in a partially new attire. Duccio Bartalucci, the Sports Director of the Non-Olympic Disciplines, and the FISE actually parted ways a few days ago, and according to Di Paola, "we have united the sports direction in the figure of Girardi, assisted by various reference and support figures," thanking Bartalucci once more for being a "friend, sportsman, and great professional.".

We have athletes dispersed throughout Europe, and now they are starting to return to our country thanks also to the organizing committees and to the fact that the Federation is keeping up with other countries, said Girardi, emphasizing how important it is for our athletes to be at the forefront of the European scene. The European Youth Jumping Championships will be held in Gorla Minore, the Junior/Young Rider Eventing Championships in Montelibretti, and the European Senior Show Jumping Championships will be held in Milan at the end of August. These competitions will serve as qualifying events for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

In addition, there are the European Women's Polo Championships at Punta Ala and the Horseball Championships at Caselle di Sommacampagna. Also not forgotten are the CSI5* at the Circus Maximus Global Champions Tour in Rome, the CSI5-W* in Verona, and, of course, the CSIO5* at the Piazza of Siena in Rome. There was a significant organizational effort put forth for Pratoni del Vivaro last year.

According to Simone Perillo, the Secretary General of FISE, "the European Championships in Milan also represent a new challenge to strengthen the prestige of equestrian sports in Lombardy. The Fise organization is encouraging all of its members to take part in the "EuroLeo 2023" competition in an effort to design the official mascot of the occasion.

Major events and sports are not the only ones. The federal commitment is working to raise people's awareness of delicate subjects like protecting children and the most vulnerable, maintaining the welfare of staff, and caring for horses.

"Like all Federations, we are investing and will continue to increase our investments in order to promote social and cultural advancement. Coni, Sport and Health, the government, and above all else, Coni are highlighting the social value of sport.
